Staples Launches Industry’s First Online Catalog for Contract Customers

Staples Contract 2008 Online Catalog Eases Ordering, Increases Compliance and Reduces Environmental Impact of Paper Catalogs

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Dec. 3, 2007 – Staples, the world's largest office products company, today announced the launch of its 2008 Contract online catalog, the office product industry's first online catalog for contract customers. The catalog drives greater convenience, efficiency and compliance for the procurement process. It combines the ease and familiarity of the traditional paper catalog with the interactivity and speed of an online experience, while enabling customers to reduce the environmental impacts associated with the use and disposal of paper catalogs.

The Staples Contract online catalog makes it easy for procurement to get more people fully engaged with their Staples program, which is key to being cost effective. Staples Contract customers can now give all employees access to their own 2008 catalog whenever they need it and employees can easily submit their order requests to approved purchasers. The online catalog is particularly useful for individuals who do not have the ability to place orders on, Staples' B2B ordering Web site.

“By providing a more convenient alternative to the paper catalog, the Staples Contract online catalog makes it easier for procurement managers to achieve program compliance and gain greater cost efficiencies,” said Marci Grebstein, vice president of marketing for Staples Contract. “Our customers are increasingly looking for us to provide them with more environmentally friendly solutions. The online catalog provides yet another tool to help them reduce the environmental impacts of their office products purchase.”

Available to all Staples Contract customers, the online catalog offers the familiar content of the printed catalog, and allows customers to quickly and easily access the book anytime or anywhere they have an Internet connection. Users can browse nearly 8,000 products, including office supplies, furniture, technology accessories, cleaning, break room and promotional products. The online catalog also greatly improves the user experience over a traditional catalog through easy-to-use features such as keyword and item number search functionality and the ability to bookmark pages and create, print and email office supply “wish lists” to the person responsible for ordering office products through
