Staples Unveils First-Ever Winter Wonderland Window Display Created Entirely of Office Products

Andrea Schroder of BRAVO's Top Design Shows Economical and Creative Solutions for Holiday Decorating with Everyday Supplies

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2008--Staples Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) today unveiled its first-ever holiday window display - created entirely out of office products - at a Staples store in New York City. From paper clips as ornament hangers to shredded construction paper as tinsel, Staples shows just how easy and economical it is to use office products to decorate this holiday season. Staples is teaming up with Andrea Schroder, featured designer on BRAVO's Top Design, to create the innovative and eye-catching display. In the spirit of giving, all the supplies from the window will be donated to Boys and Girls Clubs of America after the holidays.

Staples' unique window display, located at 1065 Avenue of Americas, contains everything from trees created solely from paper, to ornaments made from paper clips and push pins, to tech products sold exclusively at Staples. The simple holiday decorating ideas created by Schroder provide inspiration to families to get in the holiday spirit by using office products to create simple, colorful holiday decor at home.

"My goal was to create a dramatic and inspiring window that proves you don't have to spend a lot of money to decorate for the holidays," said Andrea Schroder. "With a touch of creativity, holiday decorating can be as easy as using steel paper fasteners and brass head closures found at Staples to create a decorative snowflake."

"The Staples holiday display window reinforces to our customers that we offer a wide assortment of holiday decorating tools and gifts for any budget this season," said Mark Mettler, senior vice president of merchandising for Staples. "We want to help customers find economical ways to keep the holidays bright this year. Our window display offers inspirational solutions - and it's just plain fun."

The following easy holiday decorating ideas, developed by Schroder and showcased in the Staples winter wonderland window, turn office products into festive holiday decor.

        a giant colored paper clip to the bottom.
    -- Crystal Ball Ornament: Push clear push pins into a ball of model magic.
        Attach a white string and hang from the tree!
    -- Fun & Easy Garland: Fasten paper clips together and then string on
        colorful key tags to create garland for the tree.
    -- Gingerbread Man: Cut a gingerbread man figure out of cork and decorate
        using stickers and bright pens.
