Staples Delivers New Innovations with Space-Saving MiniMate and 12-Sheet High-Speed Models
New Products Help Customers Organize and Protect Against Identity Theft

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Jan 18, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS), the world's largest office products company, today introduced the Staples(R) MiniMateTM cross-cut shredder and Staples(R) 12-Sheet High-Speed cross-cut shredder, now available in stores and on January is National Organization Month and the perfect time to get started on cleaning the office or workspace. These innovative new shredders not only help keep personal information private, but are designed to help customers shred the clutter and get organized during the new year.

"Staples is committed to delivering the best shredders to meet our customer's needs - whether it is a small, compact shredder to save space or a fast, high-speed shredder to save time," said Dave D'Angelo, senior vice president of Staples Brand Group. "A recent Staples survey revealed the majority of small business owners rely on shredders to help protect their identities and reduce clutter, and the MiniMate and the High-Speed shredder are great products to help achieve these results."

Save on Space

The MiniMate shredder is small and secure, and an easy, affordable and portable way to help protect against identity theft. The new MiniMate design is a space-saver, small enough to fit on a countertop or desk, or to carry from room-to-room. While compact, this shredder also utilizes cross-cut technology for high security, and is capable of shredding up to six sheets of paper at once. The MiniMate currently has a patent pending on the innovative blade/paper discharge configuration. Available in black, plum or white. $49.99

Save Time

The 12-sheet High-Speed cross-cut shredder, with an industrial design patent pending, helps customers tackle any size project --- fast. This new shredder is capable of shredding 200 pages in one minute, two times faster than comparable Staples branded shredders available at Staples retail stores today. Customers can shred confidential documents and old CDs and DVDs in bulk, and the cross-cut shred size ensures that information stays private. $149.99

"It's easy to let papers pile up, and before you know it, end up with a big mess. To help clear the clutter and get organized, I suggest 'shredding' the stress -- it may surprise you how therapeutic it is," said Julie Morgenstern, an organizing and time management expert, and best-selling author.

Staples is the leading retail destination for shredders within the office superstore industry, with a long-standing history of offering customers a wide variety of shredders with advanced features and innovative functions.
