Staples To Broadcast First Quarter 2000 Earnings Conference Call Via Live Webcast

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2000--Staples, Inc.'s management team will host a conference call to be broadcast via the internet for equity analysts, portfolio managers, individual investors, and members of the press on Tuesday, May 16, to announce the company's financial results for its first quarter of fiscal year 2000.

The company will begin the Webcast at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time with a discussion of the results for Staples Retail and Delivery business, immediately followed by a review of's results at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Individuals may access the Webcast from Staples' Web site at script=2400 or at by clicking on the "Corporation Information" link in the upper right hand corner of the home page, then clicking on the "Investor and Media Info" link, then selecting "Corporate Overview" where they may access the Webcast link.

To listen to the event, participants will need a multimedia computer with speakers, with the RealPlayer plug-in installed. In preparation for the Webcast, it is recommended that participants complete the pre-event system test located on the "Corporate Overview" page of Staples' website and pre-register for the event.
