Staples Announces Grand-Prize Winner of Hometown Views Photo Contest
Gordon Szeto of San Francisco Selected for his Photo, "Urban Glow"; Photo to be Sold in Staples Stores Across the Country
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., May 14, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- What makes our hometowns so special? For Gordon Szeto of San Francisco, it's the majesty of the Bay Bridge lit against the night sky. Today, Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS), the world's largest office supplies company, announced that Mr. Szeto is the grand-prize winner of its "Hometown Views" national photo contest. Staples, with the help of Professional Photographers of America, the world's oldest and largest not-for-profit association for professional photographers, selected Mr. Szeto from more than 2,000 amateur photographers across the country who submitted digital photos aimed at capturing what they believe makes their hometowns unique.

As the grand-prize winner, Mr. Szeto has won a four-day, three-night "Ultimate Photo Vacation to Iceland," as well as a $100 gift card for Staples' Copy and Print Centers. In addition, Mr. Szeto's photo, entitled "Urban Glow," will be sold in over 1,300 Staples stores throughout the United States beginning in July, with Mr. Szeto earning royalties of up to $5,000.

Mr. Szeto's winning photo is on display at http://www.staples.com/hometownviews, where anyone can view all Hometown Views regional finalists' photos. In addition, starting in July, the winning photo and finalist photos can be purchased in the form of color posters at Staples stores in their specific regions. These photos from all across the United States show off contest participants' hometown pride, from the energy of New York City to the magnificence of the California Coast to the warmth of small towns in between.
