Credit for Class Purchases and Can Enter Sweepstakes

Staples.com today launched its first-ever online teacher registry to simplify back-to-school supplies shopping for parents and students. Now, teachers can register their class list of required school supplies online in the Staples.com Back-to-School area, www.staples.com/schoolzone, and parents and students can access and purchase from these lists online, from home or from computer terminals in more than 900 Staples stores nationwide.

"We have simplified back-to-school shopping to save parents and teachers valuable time," said Kelly Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Staples.com. "Teachers have made their class supplies lists available in our stores for years. By putting these lists online, parents and students can quickly find and purchase the specific items they need."

The Staples.com Teacher Registry provides teachers a convenient, easy-to-use way to ensure that students have the necessities for their classroom. "The registry is a great tool because it gives me another way to communicate with parents and reduce the stresses of the back-to-school season," said Carol Lewenberg, a teacher in Franklin, Mass. "When students shop earlier and arrive in the fall with the right school supplies, we can concentrate on learning."

The lists are available on Staples.com so that parents can save time by purchasing the supplies for their children's classes online. For those who prefer shopping Staples retail stores, the lists can be printed from Staples.com at home or at computer terminals in store.

As a bonus, teachers who register on Staples.com will receive a gift basket of basic school supplies for their classroom. They can also register to participate in Staples Teacher's Sweepstakes to win more than 100 prizes worth a total of $35,000. Ten first prize winners will receive a $500 check plus a $500 Staples gift certificate. One hundred second prize winners will receive $250 in essential supplies for their classroom. Additionally, at the end of the back-to-school shopping season, registered teachers will receive Staples Dollars credit of up to $50 for their classroom.
