Staples, Inc. Announces Executive Changes
Steven Bussberg appointed senior vice president of Staples Business Delivery; Elaine Bruzios promoted to senior vice president of finance for North American Delivery

FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Jun 07, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Staples, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS) today announced the appointments of Steven Bussberg to senior vice president of Staples Business Delivery and Elaine Bruzios to senior vice president of finance for North American Delivery. Bussberg and Bruzios will report to Joe Doody, president of Staples North American Delivery.

In his new role, Steve brings his strategic perspective and deep knowledge of our business to drive our Staples.com and cross-channel sales to customers shopping online and in stores," said Doody. "Elaine has a great track record of success at Staples. Through her proven leadership, she will play an important part in the success of Staples North American Delivery moving forward."

Bussberg will direct the overall operations of Staples Business Delivery, which serves small business and home office customers through Staples.com and catalogs. Staples.com, a leading e-commerce site, makes it easy to research, browse and buy a wide assortment of office products and services for customers who shop online, in Staples stores or both.

After joining Staples in 1990, Bussberg has held roles of increasing responsibilities in Finance and North American Delivery. He previously served as director of financial planning and analysis and vice president of finance for North American Delivery. He was named senior vice president of finance for North American Delivery in 2009. He is a graduate of DePauw University.

Bussberg succeeds Pete Howard who has been appointed Staples senior vice president for southern Europe where he will oversee Staples business across retail, catalog and contract channels.

Bruzios succeeds Bussberg as senior vice president of finance for North American Delivery. In her new role, she will be responsible for the financial strategy and business planning efforts of North American Delivery, which consists of the Staples Advantage, Staples Business Delivery and Quill business units.

Bruzios joined Staples in 1995 and held roles of increasing responsibilities in corporate finance where she was named vice president assistant corporate controller in 2008. Prior to Staples, Bruzios served as audit manager for KPMG. She is a graduate of Assumption College.
