|Staples Selects Halifax, Nova Scotia as Site for Call Center Operation; ...Call Center to create 700 jobs...|
|WESTBOROUGH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1999--Staples Inc.
today announced that it has selected Halifax, Nova Scotia, as the site
for its newest call center operation.In order to support the rapid growth of its delivered office products businesses, both Staples Direct and Contract, as well as further enhance its commitment to customer service, Staples conducted
an extensive location search. Ultimately, Halifax was chosen because
of its highly educated work force and strong customer service
The facility is scheduled to be open this summer and, initially, will employ 200 to 300 associates. That number is expected to grow to 700 associates over the next three-to-five years. The new location will compliment the existing network of 14 call centers.
"We've chosen Halifax because of its high quality labor force," said Joseph G. Doody, president of Staples Contract and Commercial Division. "Customer service is our number one priority, and the Halifax decision only strengthens this commitment."
Staples currently operates in 132 retail stores across all ten Canadian provinces under the banners Staples, Staples Business Depot, Business Depot and Bureau En Gros.
