Red Wings Star Steve Yzerman To Visit Local Business
DETROIT/WESTBOROUGH, Mass.(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1999--

NGS American Inc. Wins Staples "Take Your Office to Steve's Office"

Staples The Office Superstore today announced that NGS American, Inc., of St. Clair Shores, Mich., is the winner of the Staples "Take Your Office to Steve's Office" promotion. Ma. Venus Lao, who submitted the winning entry, and her fellow NGS co-workers will receive a special office visit by Steve Yzerman today at 3 p.m.

Lao, a frequent shopper at the Grosse Pointe Staples superstore, has a unique reason to be excited about the Yzerman grand prize. Her son, Kevin Lao, an eighth-grader at St. Clare of Montefalco School in Grosse Pointe, recently won an award in a statewide essay contest with his composition about his hero, Steve Yzerman, entitled "The 'C' in Captain." Kevin wrote in his December 1998 essay, "... maybe someday, I'll get a chance to meet him, number 19, the 'C' in Captain."

"My son is in seventh heaven," said Ms. Lao, a registered nurse and case review specialist for NGS American. "Kevin told me never to give up on your dreams, and today his dream will come true."

In addition to hosting Yzerman at their office, NGS American employees will visit Steve's "office" to watch the Detroit Red Wings take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 26th. NGS will receive 20 luxury box tickets to the game, food and beverage, and limousine service to Joe Louis Arena. Yzerman will personally present the game tickets, sign autographs and hand out Red Wings merchandise during his visit to NGS American.

The Staples "Take Your Office to Steve's Office" contest was conducted over a six week period ending March 1. Staples customers could enter their company by completing an official entry form available at special in-store displays at fourteen participating Staples stores in southeastern Michigan. NGS American, Inc. was randomly selected from among thousands of entries.

Yzerman, a perennial NHL All-Star, is first on the Red Wings in scoring this season, and currently ranks 10th on the NHL all-time scoring list. He is the longest serving captain in NHL history in terms of number of games.

NGS American, Inc., founded by President William D. Alcott III in 1979, is a professional administrative services company that manages a broad range of group health plans. With more than 300 employees in two southeast Michigan offices, NGS administers over 100 different medical plans covering employer groups across the US.
