FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE FEATURES)--July 19, 1999--Staples Inc. today announced the 4th annual "Staples Coach of the Week" program beginning July 22. Sponsored by Staples in partnership with the National Football League (NFL) and CBS, the contest will award seventeen accredited K-12 schools a $5,000 Staples gift certificate and a visit from their local NFL head coach.
For seventeen weeks during the NFL regular season beginning
Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, a panel of NFL representatives will choose the
head coach whose leadership guided his team to the best performance of
the previous week. A winning school entry is then randomly selected
from the geographic area of the NFL coach who is honored as the
"Staples Coach of the Week." Both the coach and the school are
announced the following Sunday during THE NFL TODAY pre-game show on
So while students and parents are doing their back-to-school
shopping they can pick up an entry form at any Staples superstore or
enter online at www.staples.com. Entries must be postmarked before
Dec. 24, 1999.

season's winners. Now in its fourth season, the "Staples Coach of the
Week" program has awarded more than $200,000 in supplies to 40 schools
throughout the country.
In addition to the $5,000 gift certificate from Staples each
winning school will host a visit from its area NFL head coach at a
student assembly or other group function. The student, parent, staff,
or faculty member who submits the winning entry will receive special
recognition during the coach's visit, as well as a Staples gift
certificate for personal use.
How Schools Can Enter the "Staples Coach of the Week" Contest
Entries may be submitted as a class project or by individuals
associated with a school. There are three easy ways to enter your
school in the "Staples Coach of the Week" program: 1) Log on to
www.staples.com and fill out an entry form on-line; 2) Visit a
participating Staples store (between July 22 and Sept. 15, 1999) to
pick up an official entry form; or 3) Send a postcard with your name,
daytime phone number, name and address of the school, and the name of

Washington, DC, 20035. Schools may enter multiple times. Eligible
entries must be postmarked by Dec. 24, 1999. Winning schools are
selected at random by an independent judging organization.
