Staples.com Launches Enhanced E-Commerce Site; Clearance Center, Faster Ordering and Even More Intuitive Personalization Features Save Small Business Time and Money
    FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 1999--Staples Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) has launched a set of enhancements to www.staples.com to make shopping for office supplies online even easier, faster and more convenient for small business. Features include a clearance center for bargain hunters, a redesigned home page for simpler navigation, additional personalization features and the first Staples.com Back-to-School Center.

Bargain seekers can browse among 12 categories in Staples.com's new Clearance Center for special values on discontinued items, ranging from everyday products like inkjet paper and Iomega Jaz cartridges to specialized items such as Apollo true-color LCD projection panels. The inventory will continually evolve, giving shoppers fresh access to a steady stream of new, still-in-the-box products.

The redesigned home page streamlines the shopping experience and includes new features such as Quick Order, which allows time-pressed office managers to order directly by product number. With Quick Order the entire online shopping trip is streamlined - from order entry to checkout.

The site also features enhanced Email Reminders which allow customers to directly link to a customized order page. This represents another next-generation improvement in site personalization for customers.

School-age-specific shopping lists quickly guide parents and students to the items they'll need in September.
