Staples Celebrates its 20th Anniversary by Ringing NASDAQ Opening Bell on May 24; Staples Becomes the First Company in the Northeast to Open NASDAQ Remotely


    WHAT: Staples, Inc. will celebrate its 20th anniversary by hosting
    the first remote opening of The NASDAQ Stock Market in the
    Northeast. The Opening Bell ceremony will feature Staples
    Chairman and CEO Ron Sargent and NASDAQ President and CEO
    Bob Greifeld, along with hundreds of Staples associates.

    WHY: Staples invented the office superstore industry 20 years ago
    this month.

    Since May 1986, Staples has grown from its first store in Brighton, Mass. to become the world's largest office products company and one of the largest public companies headquartered in greater Boston.

    The NASDAQ Opening Bell is a ceremonial event that represents the open of the trading day. Remote NASDAQ Opening Bell ceremonies mark important corporate milestones from NASDAQ listed companies and other celebratory occasions.
