Staples National Teen Survey Reveals That More Than 80 Percent of Students Strive to be Organized; Innovative Back-to-School Products Blend the Hottest New Colors and Styles to Make Organizing Easy

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 26, 2006--Parents, teachers, experts and teens overwhelmingly agree that organization is the key to a successful school year. Staples' "Geared 4 School" teen survey - a national survey of more than 1,000 students ages 12 to 17 conducted in June 2006 by Staples and Synovate Inc. - provides a revealing look into what teens think about staying organized and looking cool:

  • Keeping Organized: More than 80 percent of students stated that they strive to be organized. A solid 85 percent, however, admit that their parents and teachers would consider them organized only some of the time, or not at all.

  • Slave to Fashion: Fashion continues to play a large role for today's teens, as 75 percent believe it's important to purchase supplies in the latest colors and styles. In fact, more than one-third noted that color and style are their top two priorities when purchasing school supplies.
