New Campaign to Drive Traffic to Staples.com;

Staples.com today launched a new marketing campaign to drive small business traffic to its site, build customer loyalty and boost online sales. The program which runs through May, kicks off today with a 30-second television spot on prime-time and cable networks and includes promotional offers, online advertising on major small business Web sites, print ads in national newspapers and business magazines, direct mail and e-mail. Created by Staples' in-house agency with Cliff Freeman & Partners of New York City for the television spot, the campaign extends the Staples.com brand and emphasizes the company's commitment to the successful future of its small business customers.
"Reaching, recruiting and retaining online customers are the three Rs of Internet marketing," said Kelly Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Staples.com. "With our new `Future Man' campaign, we will continue to build on our successful, integrated marketing strategies that helped boost Staples.com to become the eighth most visited e-tail site in the U.S. during April, according to PC Data Online."
The television spot highlights one of the many intuitive and unique features of Staples.com, Group Profiles, which helps up to 100 employees at a single location control expenses by operating as an office supply procurement system for small business. The spot humorously portrays what appears to be an office manager of the future who uses Group Profiles to optimize his small business' office supplies purchasing. He keeps the office running meticulously in present day, while pretending to be a cutting-edge office manager of the year 2020. His coworkers stop by his office to check on their supply orders, recognize his good work, but wonder about his bizarre "future man" alter ego, especially considering that, with Staples.com, the future is now.
